In collaboration with Stockholm Exergi, Sigholm is developing the next generation of system optimisation using the SaaS service Aurora by Sigholm (AbS). The goal is to create a holistic optimisation solution that not only covers heat, electricity and cooling production, but also integrates other parts of the energy system — such as ancillary services, peak shaving, bio-CCS and fuel planning. We are bringing together the majority of Stockholm’s energy system into a single platform in a way that has never been done before.
More efficient district heating through integrated models
In the first step, optimisation models for district cooling and district heating/CHP production are connected. In parallel, a system support solution is being developed to enable a fairer and more efficient settlement process between Stockholm Exergi and its partners involved in district heating production in the Stockholm region. We are also developing tools for planning peak shaving and electricity production, and have initiated analytical work on how customer load forecasts can be improved. Over time, these forecasts can help utilise the district heating network more intelligently, thereby reducing production costs.
We are not building a system adapted to today’s working methods; instead, we are exploring how one would design a system if given the opportunity to build it for the future. The project brings together extensive expertise in change management, system development, energy system modelling and UX design. This enables us to take significant steps forward across all areas, with the ambition of creating the world's first fully integrated system optimisation solution.
