The SaaS service Aurora by Sigholm (AbS), provided by Sigholm Tech AB, has won the procurement for Hafslund, thereby strengthening its position as the Nordic region’s leading supplier of production optimization systems for combined heat and power. With a score of 10 out of 10 on quality and the most advanced solution on the market, Sigholm secured the overall victory and placed well ahead of the other suppliers that progressed beyond the prequalification stage.
In the spring of 2024, the procurement process began with a market study in which Hafslund, Norway’s largest district heating provider, gathered information from potential partners to understand what system-level optimization solutions were available for their facilities. This was followed by a formal procurement process in accordance with public procurement regulations, where Sigholm—after extensive evaluation—was selected as the supplier. Through regular communication, demo sessions, and detailed discussions, it was established that Aurora by Sigholm best met Hafslund’s needs.
“We are incredibly proud of this recognition. It confirms our focus on quality, innovation, and operational excellence within district heating and energy systems,” says Sofia Ekman, Technical Product Owner for AbS at Sigholm.
Best-suited solution for Hafslund
Hafslund’s evaluation shows that Sigholm is considered to offer the most complete and user-friendly solution on the market. The system is thoroughly tested and tailored for district heating and CHP companies with similar needs, and offers:
The best coverage of the required modules, along with a clear plan to develop any missing features.
A user-friendly production plan, where operators preferred Sigholm’s solution over competing alternatives.
A holistic approach to operational excellence, where Sigholm provides not only a system but also insights and best practices for Hafslund.
Sigholm further distinguishes itself through its clear and transparent development roadmap, giving Hafslund confidence that any minor shortcomings will be addressed before operational launch. In addition, Sigholm is seen as having the most well-considered implementation plan, taking a leading role in ensuring a smooth and efficient rollout.
“Sigholm has shown that they understand our needs and challenges related to complex systems and volatile energy markets. Their solution enables us to make well-informed decisions in real time. To capture the potential of the future energy market, a strong model and automation are essential,” says Carl Lenman, Asset Digitalization Lead, Hafslund.
Next steps
The implementation process begins immediately, with an initial phase focused on developing detailed specifications regarding which components will be implemented, when, and how, to best achieve Hafslund’s goals for system optimization.
“We look forward to working together with Hafslund to create a sustainable and future-proof optimization solution that continues to evolve in line with developments in the energy market,” says Viktor Strandgren, Commercial Product Owner for AbS at Sigholm.
